St. John Ambulance
HUTT VALLEY SUB-CENTRE
At tlie first meeting of the re-cently-elected committee of the Hutt Valley Sub-centre of the St. John Ambulance Association members outlined the work undertaken by the Association and also' that of the Brigade. The Association's members are members of the public who join because of their acknowledgment of good citizenship and acceptance of that obligation by giving assistance in time, and perhaps money, to further the humanitarian work of the Association. The Association will hold classes in first aid and conduct examinations. It will also establish ambulance depots in or near factories, beaches, sports , fields and other places.
The Brigade, whose members must have gained the Association's certificate, is at call at all hours of the day and night in. case of sickness or accident, and renders aid to anyone who requires it. As often witnessed on playing fields, St. John men and women are always "on the job." Recently a new division was formed to ensure that speedway spectators and competitors will have first aid available to them.
