Mrs. W. A. Beale and '.Miss Beale, of Hastings, who have been visiting Mr. C,. Beale in Lower Hutt, returned home last week.
Mrs. Knox Gilmer, president of the Wellington Horticultural Society, was an , interested visitor to the Hutt Valley Horticultural Society's Rose Show last week.
Mrs. E. Phillips lias been electee president of the New Zealaiu Writers' and Artists Society, am Mrs. H. Clyde secretary.
Miss Mabel Baker, a well-known Auckland journalist, has been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Alan Baker in Lower Hutt.
Miss P. Linton, of the teaching staff of the Hutt Valley High School, left for England this week. She expects to be away two years.
