SWIMMING
OPENING OF SEASON ROLL OF HONOUR UNVEILED The Hutt Valley Swimming Club’s season was opened at the Riddiford Baths on Saturday.
In officially declaring, the season open Mr. W. Nash, M.P. for ITutt, congratulated the Lower Hutt City Council on the repairs carried out to the baths, which now have a very attractive appearance. The new reinforced concrete floor, laid on a thick coating of bitumen, has been painted a delicate shade of blue, the reflection of which through the water gives an exceedingly pleasing appearance. The children’s pool has been similarly painted. Repairs have been effected to the seating accommodation and the dressing rooms. A roll of honour to members of the club who served in the last war was unveiled in the clubroom by Mr. A. T. Duncan, patron of the club. -■ A programme of events resulted:Junior boys: C. Wilkins 3. Women’s freestyle: Miss Matbeson 1, B. Naismith 2, P. Stannard 3: Men’s freestyle: S. Bs.yliss 1, R. Holmes 2, Broadbent 3. Water polo: Hutt 3, Petone 1. v
