Water Board

LOWER HUTT TO JOIN TOKEN PAYMENT OF 6500 Following the reading of a letter from tlie City Solicitor, Mr. N. T. Gillespie, regarding certain property, the Lower Hutt City Council decided on Monday night to make formal application to rejoin the Wellington City and Suburban Water Supply Board. Tlie Mayor, Mr. E. P. Hay, said that tlie cost to the Council would be £SOO as a token payment for the years during which it had not been making payments and a varying amount in succeeding years according to the expenses of the Board. If the Local Government Commission decides on the establishment of a Wellington Catchment Board the Water Board will be absorbed by it. The City Council will seek participation in the Water Board on the same terms as Eastbourne in respect of forest protection, not water supply, as the city has its own water supply.
