Anglican Church

EXTENSION AT TAITA

A move to extend the work of the Anglican Church in the housing areas was made last week, when the first district committee was set up at Taita. The meeting was presided over by the Rev. J. C. Davies, vicar of St. James’, and representatives of St. James’ Vestry were present. Mr. Davies said that the old church at Taita was established by the pioneers 102 years ago, and had played a big part in the religious life of the district. Services will still be held in the old church, also in the hall, and as a result it is hoped and expected that church life will grow tremendously. The following committee was set up:—Chairman, Mr. C. H. Yates; secretary, Mr. C. A. Chalmers; members, Mesdames D. Clark, A. S. Lawson and H. Fisher, Miss R. Lumley, Messrs. H. W. Richardson, C. W. Tremewan and W. J. McLelland.
