Flower Show

TAITA WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

The monthly meeting of the Taita Women’s Institute was held in Taita Hall. Mrs. Matthews presided over a large attendance of members. Mrs. Matthews was appointed delegate to attend the Dominion Conference to be held in Wellington in August.

Members were reminded to attend the Drama Festival to be held on June 16 and 17 and the Round-table Conference to be held at Newlands on June 30.

The choir contributed two very pleasing items. It being the Institute winter flower show the rest of the afternoon was spent in viewing the exhibits. There was a beautiful display of hydrangeas, chrysanthemums, spring narcissi, and decorative baskets of leaves and berries. Miss Allman judged the show, and the following were the prize-winners: Mesdames Bonthorne, Dyer, Boyes, Keall, Jackson, Voss, Wilson, Sage, Sole. Afternoon tea and the National Anthem brought the meeting to a close.
