Children’s Concert Recently a group of children from Lower Hutt gave a concert to raise funds for the United Nations’ appeal for starving children overseas. Mrs. J. Roach lent her home for the occasion, and an effective stage was made by the clever use of folding doors, velvet curtains and electric lighting. All the children taking part were eleven years of age or under, down to a tiny tot of five who did an accomplished ballet dance in a delightful silver white frock. The concert had been well organised and was well patronised, and the children entered into their parts with ability and enthusiasm. After the concert afternoon tea was served at a nominal charge. As a result of this afternoon’s work £lO/17/- was handed to the Mayor of Lower Hutt, a New Zealand children’s offering to help alleviate the sufferings of the less fortuna.te children overseas.
