AUTUMN CHURCH FAIR

ST. DAVID'S, VVADniXOTON St. David's Church Hall. Waddington, was the scene of considerable activity on Saturday afternoon, when tiie parishioners conducted their first Autumn Fair. The well-laden stalls and games received eager patronage from the large attendance, which included the Vicar. Rev. J. C. Davies. Mrs. Davies. the Rev. L. M. King. Curate in charge. Mrs. King, the Rev. and Mrs. H. C. Arnold, and a number ol" the vestrymen and parishioners ol St James' Parish. The fair was opened by the Archdeacon of Wellington, the Venerable Archdeacon E, J. Rich. In introducing the Archdeacon, the Vicar e.-.tended a welcome i<> the largo gathering and Mrs. Rich, and said .hat no oik- had done more to make tin- Church Hail possible than the Archdeacon. la declaring the (air open the Archdeacon said it was a great pleasure and honour tor him to !>•• present at the first effort of the kind in ih.- district. Referring to the work ol tl arly pioneers in the llutl Valley, he said that the parishioners ol Waddington, who had held their tirsl service in the Hall (.11 Christina? Day. could also regard themselves as pioneers of the new church in the Valley. Any small rhing in had done 10 assist had been more than repaid by the earnestness of those responsible for their ilrsi effort.
