CLOSING DAY OF SEASON Perfect weather prevailed lor the closing day of the Hutt Croquet Clut). In the forenoon a complimentary luncheon was tendered to Mrs. A. J. Sanders, who won Mi" New Zealand Croquet Council's silver button for the B Grade champion oi champions, and to Miss Margaret Claughton for her success at the North Island tournament. Miss* Ciaughlon won the open and the women's championships, and was also runner-up in the open championship at tli" Dominion meeting. Mrs. G. Collins, tlie club champion, was not forgotten either, and the president. Mrs. K. Parkin, handed the three members exquisite posies, the work of Mrs. W. Hendry. The victorious players' health was drunk with musical honours, the guests suitably

replying. Tii- president of the Hutl Bowling Club, Mr. H. Cate, was a welcome visitor to afternoon tea. The trophy winners were:—A Championship Cup. Mrs. G. Collins; Intermediate Cup. Mrs. J. Stoneliouse; B Championship Cup. Mrs. E. Parkin; Champion Doubles. McKenzie Shield. F. C. Bryan and Mrs. O. Burt; Handicap Doubles. Windsor Richards Meirxrlal Cup and Bock Buttons. Mesdum.es F. C. Bryan and H. Uren; Handicap Singles, Hollani Plate. Miss Margaret Claughton; Handicap Singles, Watkins Rose Bowl, Mrs. J. B. Wood; Novices' Prizes: Mrs. P. C. Bryan's trophy. Mrs. France; Mrs. L. Lockett's trophy. Mrs. K. Parkin. The afternoon was spent in competitions, which caused endless amusement. They were won by Mesdanies G. Coilins and J. Stonehouse (egg and spoon). Miss M. Claughton and Mrs. O. Burt (take-off to hoop). "Miss D. McKenzie and Mrs. France (tootsies). Mesdames J. B. Wood and B. V. Cooksley (reverse hoops*. As a small token of esteem for their work throughout the year Miss D. McKenzie (vice-president), on behalf of the members of the club, handed gifts to Mrs. E. Parkin, president. Mrs. W.
