YA 1,1.10 V BRANCH MEETS
The April meeting of the Valley branch of the Women's Institute was held in the Red Cross Hall. Lower Hutt. .Mrs. E. Hurney presided over a very good meeting, which took the form bf a social afternoon, it being Members' Day.
An appeal for members to bring an article of food for enclosing in, the monthly parcel being sent to England met with a very good response. Included in the gifts was an anonymous gift of money from a well-wisher.
A new Gardening Circle and a Crafts Circle,have been formed.
The points prize for the monthly competition, rock cakes made with cooking fat. was won by Mrs. Summers, with Mrs. Burley second; best flower for Huse Cup. won by Mrs. Huse.
