Mrs. Craig Mackenzie, of Lower Hutt. has been elected a member of the executive of the New Zealand Drama Council.
Mrs. K. F. Rothwell and the Misses Shirley and Noelino Lister, of Lower Hutt. gave much-appreci-ated instrumental trios at a social gathering held in Wellington in connection with the New Zealand legal conference.
.Miss Gladys Moncrteft, the popular Australian actress-Singer, who had such a successful tour in New Zealand a few mouths ago, is enjoying her holiday abroad. After a visit tc the United States she is now in L'ngland.
Miss Tliea Smith, of Heretaunga, won several of the contralto sections at the Napier Competitions at Easter, # * • Julie Tuppen, of Lower Hutt. was very successful at the Napier Competitions at Easter, first in character Btory dance and first in points dance, eleven to fifteen years, being amor.r; her successes.
