RAILWAY EXTENSION
NAENAE TO TAITA
The new railway extension from Naenae to Tafta, which was brought into operation on Monday, comprises one mile 44 chains of single track, and is part of the scheme whereby the line will ultimately link with the present main line from Lower Hutt to Upper Hutt. Peak-hour trains leave Taita on Week-days at the following times: — 6.39 a.m. daily, 7 a.m. (not Saturday), 7.10 a.m. daily, 7.43 a.m. daily, 8.10 a.m. (not Saturday), 8.20 a.m. (Saturday only). They leave Wellington for Taita as follows: '4.2 p.m. daily, 4.45 p.m. (not Saturday), 5.2 p.m. (not Saturday), 5.10 p.m. (not Saturday). 5.20 p.m. daily, 5.41 p.m. daily, and 6.10 p.m. daily. During the off peak hours approximately an hourly train service will be maintained between Taita and Wellington, as far as possible leaving Taita at "15 minutes past each hour and leaving Wellington at 20 minutes past each hour. Saturday and Sunday train services have been arranged to conform with the requirements of the area, taking into consideration the 40hour week, Sunday hospital visiting arrangements, etc.
