■ ■■ V CLUB IN LOWER HUTT On Monday a meeting was held in the Horticultural Hall for overseas wives of servicemen and New Zealand servicewomen with the object of forming a club. The following officers were elected: —Patroness, Mrs. Hyder; president”, Mrs. Burrows; secretary, Miss Chesney; treasurer, Mrs. Merrilees; and a committee of eight. It was decided to have social evenings once a month, the first of these to be on October 28th. Dressmaking, cooking, and leather work classes are to be arranged as soon as possible. The Club is to be ’ called the Onward Club and the subscription is 2/6 per annum. Any overseas wives or servicewomen who are interested are asked to communicate with the secretary, Phone-No. 63-017, or attend the social evening on October 28 th in the Horticultural Hall (supper room).
