MERRY MINSTRELS
BRIGHT SHOW PRESENTED. The Merry Minstrels justified their name at the Waterloo Hall 017 Wednesday night, for the show presented by them on behalf of the Tainui Sea Scout Jamboree Fund was merry and bright and was keenly enjoyed by a large audience. Included in the programme were tuneful songs and choruses by the full company, some very funny modernised versions of popular fairy tales by Bessie Anderson, solos from light opera by Beatrice Taylor, soprano solos by Margaret Pdchmond, duets reminiscent of the nineties by the Pirie Sisters, diverting "Meanderings of Monty" by John Shearer, a gay number by.lsma Newman, piano and violin duets by Mr. and Mrs. Martin, lyric tenor solos by Lilly Treseder, ducts from musical comedy by Beatrice Taylor and John Shearer, eccentric dances by Julie Tuppen, saxophone solos by Neil Morris, broad comedy by Lockyer and Fox, selections by Ray Hart's piano-accordian band, and delightful operatic dances by Vivienne Piatt's Ballet. Mr. S. Wood was at the piano, and an orchestra provided the overture to each part of the programme. Sea Scouts' Thanks. Tin? Merry Minstrels were under the direction of "Mrs. Noel Taylor, and she and those associated with her are to he congratulated on a very bright entertainment. At the close the County Commissioner of the Sea Scouts thanked all who had assisted in making the entertainment a success, and said that the proceeds would go towards the fund being raised to send two Sea Scouts to the World Jamboree, with advantage not only to the boys chosen, but to Scouting -in general and, he thought.
