<t> BELMONT BRANCH MEETS The Belmont Women's Institute recently held its usual monthly meet ing. The competitions I'or the month resulted with .Mrs. Sandlant winning the cup for three asters, and Mrs. Clifford winner of four jam tarts. Miss Presants, the retiring president, was presented with an autograph book, signed by members, and a spray, as were all retiring committee members. The annual report was read showing objectives achieved during the year.
A special competition for tlie most patriotic wool knitted , during the year was won by Mrs. Sandlant, with Mrs. Bennett and Mrs. Benfell running a close second and third. Included in the patriotic work besides the forces, there was knitting done for the French and clothyig supplied to the Polish Camp.
The Circle reports were read and showed a good year's work. The following officers were elected: — President, Mrs. Fife (unopposed); committee , Mesdames Askew, Benfell, Bennett, Linklater, Macauley, Sandlant, Swift, Thompson and Young.
A special vote of thanks was passed to the Press for its co-operation during the past 12 months.
