EXCESSIVE SPEED

HUTT MOTORISTS FINED For driving at excessive speed several motorists were convicted and fined by Mr. I-I. G. Thompson, S.M., at the last sitting of the Magistrate's Court in Lower Hutt. Moran Nether was fined £2/10/-, John Hogan £3, and Jack Astell, Charles MacDonald and William Summers £2 each, with costs 10/in each case. Leonard Douglas Brown, for having failed to give way to a motor bus at the corner of Cornwall Street and Waterloo Road, was fined £2 10/-, and for a similar offence at the corner of Ludlam Crescent and Penrose Street Francis Patrick Mark was ordered to pay. £2. Phyllis Schnell, for having failed to., notify the disposal of a mtor truck, was fined 10/-, and a similar fine was imposed on lan Frederick Lee for having ridden a bicycle at night unlighted. Bernard Gallagher, for driving a motor lorry that did not carry a warrant of fitness, had to pay £2. Peggy Christine Mundy, for overtaking and passing another vehicle which had stopped to yield right of way to pedestrians on a crossing, was fined 15/-.
