STRENUOUS TIME

MAYOR OF LOWER HUTT Mr. J. W. Andrews, Mayor of Lower Hutt, has had a particularly strenuous time of Jate. Recently he visited Auckland, Hamilton, Huntly and Rotorua as a member of a special committee of the Town Planning Board, and is now in Christchurch attending the annual conference of the New Zealand Municipal Association, of which he is president. One day last week he attended no fewer than seven meetings. The Mayor, who is accompanied on the visit to Christchurch by Mrs. Andrews, will return to Lower.Hutt next Sunday. As president of the New Zealand Brass Bands Association, Mr. Andrews was present on the Wellington wharf on Sunday morning to welcome the Wellington Watersiders’ Band and congratulate it on winning the A Grade competition at the New Zealand Band Contest.
