The Hutt News, which has long played an important part in the development of the Hutt Valley, continues to keep step with the amazing progress of the district whvdK it serves. Uy the recent installation of a new model “Costar” Press, an English printing machine of the most, modern type, it is confident, of being able to give even better service than in the past. It is interesting to trace the history of the Hutt News. First published on April I, .1927, the paper soon showed that there was nothing of the “All Fools Day” about its launching. From the start it filled a definite need, and its. growth from the first edition of four pages, 10 by 15 inches each, to the present publication of twelve pages, modern newspaper size, is proof of its success. At first it was sent through the post, covering the whole postal district; to-day it is delivered by car and runners. It is significant that the installation of the new machinery, which effects a great saving in time and labour, has been made almost on the actual 19th anniversary of the founding of the paper. With modest pride it can be claimed that the Hutt News has always given good service, not only to advertisers, but to the people of the district as a whole, and with the new equipment, the increase in size to twelve pages, the extension of the news service, the better distribution, and the wider coverage of the district so that it is delivered to 10,000 homes, (as compared with 2500 when it was first published) it is reflecting the tremendous strides made by the Hutt Valley generally. District and newspaper, advancing together, are proud of past achievements and may look forward with confidence to greater ones in the future.
