Prime Minister at Naenae. The annual garden party of the Naenae Catholic Boys' School on Saturday was a great success. In opening the fete the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, paid tribute to the fine work done at the school. Pilfering in Lower Hutt Residents of Lower Hutt would be wise not to leave money or valuables lying about when they are away from their homes, for several cases of petty theft have been reported. *> Band in the Park. , The music provided by the Lower Hutt Municipal Band in Riddiford Park on Sunday afternoon was much enjoyed by a large audience. Donation to School Band The Hutt Valley High School Boys' Band was given a cheque for its services at a gathering at Petone, when band instruments valued at £IOOO were handed over to the railway workshops band. Appeal for "Transit House" The stall to be held at the Patriotic Hut on Friday on behalf of the Happiness Club's appeal for "Transit House" will be conducted by the St. John Ambulance Brigade. It should bo noted that "Transit House" will operate in the Hutt Valley. "Waiting for a Bus. The recent decision of the Transport Department to limit bus loads has caused long waits to many intending passengers during certain busy periods. On Saturday evening there were groups of disappointed —and irate! —people at several of the bus stops. One woman said that seven buses had passed before she was able to get a seat in one going to Wellington. Football's Club's Proud Record. 'w Over 300 members of the Hutt Kugby Football Club served in the forces during the war; 2',i made the supremo sacrifice and many were wounded. Saving in Cost. The City Engineer reported to'the Lower Hutt City Council that an 18-inch watermain to the reservoir had been completed by his own staff jfor £B9l/16/2, which represented a saving of £678/9/2 when compared with the contractor's price.
