BUS SERVICES
' ' "T.i I v ■ ■ ■ (To the Editor). Sir, —Could I enliat ,-the aid of the Hutt News to find out what is ule intention of N.Z.Ri bus drivers as to the folio wing: ~I sincerely believe the public is 'with the drivers in their stand to avoid over-crowding-on buses. Now, I am writing on behalf of just a few people who reside on the Main Hutt Road, between Lower Hutt and Petone. What is the position if a bus, the Wellington Direct, leaves the Hutt for Wellington at 8 a.m? Will these people be picked up as the bus had a limit load on leaving the Hutt? In wet weather this bus, the 8 a.m Direct, lias been a nightmare to try and get on board, packed and jambed to the door; yet it Is the only bus available for city workers. It could be argued that such residents could walk through to Victoria Street and get the buses through Petone, but it? is no argument in wet weather, with the autumn and winter approaching, we Main Road residents ask that some consideration be given, whdn/ a bus is loading at Lower Hutt, thal there are still some to be picked up en route. This particular stretch, between Lower Hutt and Petone, -has a very meagre bus service and when one waits for the busbne has to trust that one will be‘ picked up.— I am etc., /
