LOWER HUTT RESERVES
IN STATE HOUSE AREAS In connection with the development of reserves in State Housing areas, the Superintendent *o£ Reserves in Lower Hutt reported to the last meeting of the Lower Hutt City Council that in accordance with the decision made at the conference held on the 20th of June, he had conferred with the Housing Department's landscape architect. The question of developing a major sports ar,ea was discussed and it was decided that, although from the point of view of location the Waddington reserve is the most desirable, existing conditions preclude its 'immediate development, and it was decided to proceed with the development of the Whites Line East Reserve. As, a preparatory work, spot levels ax-e being taken and when these have been plotted the finished grades and levels will be determined. The removal of. the shingle is being expedited and will be used as fillings on the banks of the stream and on the low-lying children's play area in Hayward Terrace. It was also agreed that the development work on the Nae Nae Reserve extension and the children's play areas should proceed as soon as weather conditions permit.
