WAIWHETU MOTHERS There was a good attendance at the home of Mrs. Wakeham and a very enjoyable evening was spent. Mrs. Meldrum won the prize for the best effort — child's knitted gloves, and the competition for the afternoon was won by Mrs. King. Mesdames Cooper and I3loore took supper duties. TOWXSWOMEN S (i U1 LI) The May meeting of the Townsmen's Guild was held in the U.S.A. Hall, Mrs. Cole presiding. The hall was gaily decorated with Hags and bunting and a special afternoon tea was provided by the committee to celebrate Victory in Europe. Di\ Turbot was the guest speaker and gave an interesting talk on health and nutrition, illustrated by films. lie was thanked by Mrs. Lazarus and presented with a small gift. The Drama Circle under the leadership of Mrs. Porrit, entertained with a humorous sketch entitled "Love will find a Way." Mrs. Porrit was presented with a floral spray. Masters Cole and Graham, with Mrs Graham at the piano, gave musical items, and Mrs Graham was presented with a floral token. The patriotic stall in charge of Mrs. Watson, was well patronised, the proceeds of which are to be devoted to the fund to provide comforts for the people of Britain. The best flower was won by Mrs Murray who is the holder of the cup for one month. WAIWHETU TOWNSWOMEN The monthly meeting of the Waiwhetu Townswomen's Guild was held in St. Paul's Hall on May 23, when' tl'trt Vi<.s u good attendance and an enjoyable afternoon was spent by all. Miss M. Seaton, the guest speaker, gave a very interesting address on the women of the Phillipine Islands, their dress and their customs. She was presented with a large bouquet of chrysanthemums. Two competitions were held, one being a handkerchief made from a salt bag, which was won by < Mrs. Wooster, and a one-egg sponge, won by Mrs. McKillop. The best flower in the garden comr petition was won by Mrs. Smith. PATRIOTIC SUB-COMMITTEE FOR THE FIGHTING FRENCH A recent meeting was held in the Services Club Rooms, Mrs. J. W. Andrews presiding. It was announced that a reply from the War Assets Realisation Board had been received. A supply of used clqthing will be issued to Mrs Salmon, as requested, to be converted into children's jackets, shirts and singlets for French devastated areas.

Mrs. Harding-Morris, having been instrumental in arranging repairs to a valuable Queen Anne silver teapot (the gift of Madame Bendall), it was decided to hold a competition, the money from which will be used for the purchase of knitting wool for children's garments. Mrs. Andrews reminded those present that the Hutt Hospital was greatly in need of linen and cotton goods, which could bo left at the Mayor's Office and addressed accordingly. A good collection .of knitting was returned and some monetary donations acknowledged. WAIYVHETU PRESBYTERIAN PARISH The Woman's Fellowship held tlieir May meeting recently; this was well attended and several new members were enrolled. Mrs. Stro lg (vice-president), conducted the meeting which was addressed by Miss Evelyn Watson. "Not Wanted," was the title of her talk, stressing the necessity of right conduct towards enemies as well as to allies.

Mrs. Webster sang two songs, giving much pleasure, and Mrs Tregurtha was at the piano.
