TABLE TENNIS
<3, A perusal of the result sheets re ceived ?to date- makes very interest ing reading and under the new sys tern of playing the matches man] close results have,, been obtained af in many of the games the odd se has decided the result. As consider ably more time is required to complete the matches clubs are advisee to start early and to commence th( games as soon as a member of th( opposing team arrives. Thrilling Table Tennis was the order of the night when St Ronans met Petone and the match resultec in a win for St. Ronans. The higl: lights o£ the evening were the games between George Corbett and Evar Hughes and Harold Chapman. Corbett won bcth sets against Hughes and broke evens with Chapman games provided the patrons with thrills a-plenty. Petone Catholic play West End and both cJi:bs have yet to obtair their first win, so a very interesting game should result. . WaiwLetu Catholic after a closc game defeated Petone Catholic in th; B Grade and from advica received J. O'Neill played very well for th« winners. D.P.L. are ir the C Grade and apparently l have a very good side but to date Trafalgai also in this grade are unbeaten.' D Grade shows Mangaroa with e win over Rovers and in the E Grade Empire won from West End and Rovers from Woollen Mills. Advice has been received that the ball situation appears to be much brighter and we hope to advise clubs at an'early date when stocks will be on hand. As only a limited supply is available these balls will probablj be issued to clubs on team strength, June should see action on the pari of the Executive in arranging a Handicap Tournament or possibly tli€ the Hutt v. Petone clash in all grades. •X j
