Plunket Rooms

NEW BUILDING COMPLETED OFFICIAL OPENING SATURDAY. Scheduled to be officially opened on Saturday next, by the Acting Prime Minister, the Hon. Walter Nash, the new Plunket Rooms at Waterloo represent a particularly fine example of community effort in a most worthy cause. Sponsored by a special "Building Project" Committee the new rooms lat Waterloo represent a great combination of effort by society members, local bodies, Government .departments, private firms and citizens, who have donated practically all the materials, equipment and labour involved. During the many "working bees" several prominent citizens could have beea seen weilding pick and shovel or other implements on the site. Built of red brick, with a tiled roof, the new Plunket Rooms are of a size equivalent to that of a sixroomed house, and are centrally situated on the community reserve at Waterloo Station. Tastefully laid out lawns, gardens and paths give the impression that the rooms stood in their own miniature park, which is actually so. The interior of the building carries a pleasing colour scheme of blue and 'cream with lino on the floors of all rooms except the main lounge which is covered by carpet. Wash-hand basins complete with hot and cold water services are a feature of all the rooms as are electric radiators, linen cupboards and a variety of other equipment having to do with the special nursery needs of the institution. From all points of view the new rooms represent a mogt valuable' asset to the district and reflect great credit, on all those responsible for their construction.
