VE DAY CELEBRATIONS
DISAPPOINTMENT EXPRESSED.
"The whole thing was messed up" said Mr. K. Watts when -the Hutt "Valley Chamber of Commerce was discussing the VE Day celebrations. "I am quite certain," continued Mr. Watts that someone in Wellington misinterpreted the London announcements and in postponing the celebrations till the next day the local delacked the necessary character."
Mr. H. V, Horlor: "It just goes to show that you can't bottle up emoJr Mr. C. . Griffin: "Here we had the greatest victory of ail time and because of directions as to how and ;when the celebrations were to be (Carried out the whole show fell flat. It was just another example of the extent to which regimentation is going on in this country." Various other members of the Chamber expressed their disappointment at the way VE Day was celebrated and hoped that when the final peace was declared it would be celebrated in a more fitting manner.
