SERVICES CLUB
On Saturday and Sunday, June 2nd and 3rd, Lower Hutt Services Club will celebrate its third birthday. Since its inception, the club has always been a popular rendezvous for servicemen and Women and that popularity remains undiminished as the fourth year of its existence is entered. During the memorable period when large detachments of overseas allied servicemen were stationed in and adjacent to the Hutt Valley, the Services Club was a favourite recreational centre every evening of the week, but with the departure overseas o£ these men, a curtailment of club hours was considered advisable.
The club now opens each Saturday and Sunday afternoon and evening in time to provide tea for those requiring it. Saturday evening is given over to dancing and games, whilst on Sunday evening a concert programme is produced. Special fea tures have been arranged for the Birthday Week-end—June 2nd and 3rd —and services personnel are assured of cosy, enjoyable leisure and excellent entertainment.
The management of the , club is grateful to the following artists who provided the items for the programme on Sunday evening last: —
Misses Margaret Richmond and Jillian Leslie, and Mr. Walter Smith, songs; Miss Lotus Bell, solo dance; Mrs Anderson, humorous recitations; and Mr. Fred Lickford, pianist.
The hostesess for the past weekend were members of tlie League of Mothers and to these also, the management extends its thanks.
