LOW Kit. HUTT CITY COUNCIL. T I\ST OX ARTKSIAX WAT Kit SCI'PUKS HUTV VALLKY TO ALL OWNERS OF IMIIYATK artesian ayklls. The Public is hereby notified that it is tin.' intention oT the Conner., conjunction with the Wellington City Council and the Pol one Hnrousli Council, to curry out over a perioe of sever.ii month* during flic next summer a series of tests in order to determine as far as is practical)!' the total availability of the artesian flow in the Valley. The tests will take the form of running to waste from all available wells all water which can be conveniently measured. The objects will be (1) to compute the total amount of water which can be drawn off the supply, ('2) to oh serve the fall in static level which occurs when maximum draw-oif is taking place, and (."■!) to observe the level at which the static level oi the artesian flow remains constant after maximum draw-off has taken place over a period of several months. The Council points out that in view of the tremendous development of housing and new industries in recent years in the Hutt Valley it i. c ' very much in the interests of every resident of the Hutt Valley, as well as of every commercial user of artesian water, to know as much as possible about the ultimate availability of the artesian supply. Although it is possible that in order to safeguard the operations of businesses during next summer when these tests are being carried out, it may be necessary for businesses to instal pumping plant, or to construct or deepen a suction chamber, Council feels sure that all will co-operate in this matter, and it places its engineer ing staff at the disposal of businesses for any advice they may require. It is emphasised that the conditions which it is proposed to bring about deliberately during the test period will undoubtedly eKist continu ously in a year or two when the Council's main pumping station i« moved to the Hutt Park.
