LOWEII MUTT HOSPITAL - Recently this hospital was opened for use. At the present time there are approximately 40 returned servicemen patients in the hospital. These men come from various parts of New Zealand and in many cases have no or relatives in tin. district. The p'ecfcetai-y of the U.S.A visits these men week and does what he can for . them.. Some of these men have bad left injuries ai; cannot get around very easily. Tlv writer suggests that if members or others happen to be proceeding to the country and have a spare seat in their car, they might perhaps b( able to take one of these men occas ionally. Arrangements to do so could be made by ringing <>0-7:21 and asking for Corporal Cloake whc would be only too willing to assist. There is also tv-shortage of good reading anyone leave? books or with the loca' secretary at th'e" : XJlub Homs, above Liebezeit's, High Street, Lower Hut' he will be only too pleased to tak them to the hospital. Before sending a book along, say to yourseif "Is it a book I would care to read myself?" Recently the secretary re ceived a number of books of type r "Seven Little Australians," and books by Mary Grant Bruce. The-, were not suitable for servicemen but one of the local school libraries benefited by a number of suitable books.
OLI) time dances Last Saturday the Social Commit tee held a most successful Old Tlmr Dance in the Club Rooms. The r one will be held on Saturday, Ist July, and- fortnightly thereafter. SPITFIRE CLUB. At last Annual General Meeting a resolution .was passed suggesting that a club on the lines of the TV Hat Club of Wellington R.R.A. be formed. This met with the unanimous support of members and as r result "The Hutt Valley Spitfire Club" has been formed. rtinvasion will be made on Frid"June 30th. Zero hour 20.00. Men 1 bers are invited to be there to p-~ the bombs drop.
