The secretary of the Lower Hutt Red. Cross (Mrs. J Fletcher) acknowledges with grateful thanks a donation of 10/- from Keith and Peter Fullford, of Boulcott School. These two boys held a jumble salt and kindly handed the proceeds to Red Cross. Members of the Hutt Valley Horticultural Society and others ' interare reminded that the annual meeting will |be held in the Wainiarie Croquet Club's pavilion on Wednesday, 28th inst at S p.m. The Lower Hutt -City Council notifies the public by advertisement in this issue that it is its intention in conjunction with the Wellington City Council and the Petone Borough Council, to carry out tests to determine the total availability of the artesian flow in the valley. At the recent annual meeting of .the Hutt Temperance League the following officers were elected for the ensuing year: President, the Rev. F. J. Parker; vice-president, Mr. J. W. • Lopdell; hon. secretary, Mr. Alexander Gerrie; hon. treasurer, Mr. Fred Donaldson. A number of important local matters were discussed, and the question of the appointment of a Royal Commission to enquire into all the aspects of the liquor traffic were also under review. The new situation that has arisen at Inyercargill is also being followed With a great deal of interest.
