Some rapid scoring was seen on Saturday afternoon in the eighteenth series of games in the Wellington Cricket Association's senior championship competition, which were played in perfect weather and on firm wickets and fast outfields
Hutt maintained their lead of 12 clear points for the championship by overwhelming Karori on the Hutt Recreation Ground by 141 runs on the first innings, after having declared, their innings closed with only four ? wickets down. R. W. Stehr, the Hutt captain, hit up 92 in 100 minutes, included in his score being one six and nine fours Chapman also rattled up his 4 5 not out in quick time. Hutt declared the innings closed with the total at 198 for four wickets. Deadly bowling by Buchan, who took five wickets for 12 runs, and Chapman who collected five for 39, saw Karori dismissed for 57 runs. This win assures Hutt of the senior championship.
