TENNIS TOURNAMENT
IX AID OF ItED CROSS FUNDS
The mid-week Hutt Bowling Ladies Tennis Club Tournament in aid of the Red Coss Society held recently, was an outstanding success. The bowlers' pavilion, which had been beautifully decorated by Mrs. J. Lowe, was crowded with visitors. The entries for the tournament exceeded all expectations, and play was keen throughout the day. Mrs B. Jones, Mrs Plimmer and Mrs. L. Teagle had a busy time in arranging the games. Mrs. Kennery proved to be the winner of the tournament with six games to her credit.
The president of the Red CroiSß Society, Mrs. J. Mitchell, in a brief speech, thanked the club members for their support and said such efforts were a great encouragement to their splendid workers. In reply, the secretary of the Tennis Club, Mrs. M. Upton, said they looked upon it as a privilege to be allowed to help so worthy an organisation asi the Red Cross Society.
