LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
A crowded hall greeted the opening meeing for the year of the Lower II ttll Branch of the League of Mothers. As usual, the stage was beautifully decorated with large bowls of ilowers. Mrs. W. O. Gibb presided, and welcomed the members back to another year of service. .She mentioned the fact that conditions were so much brighter than last year, and that we had much to be thankful for. The secretary, Mrs Liebezeit, appealed for voluntary helper-i to assist at the Waldorf restaurant. Wellington, and the new Allied Services Club in Lower Hutt. The afternoon's programme was in the hands of the choir, who sang several brackets of songs. Vocal solos were contributed by Misses P. Evan's* and R. Dick, and elocutionary items by Mrs. Delicate. A piano duet, was rendered by Mesdames Cirigg and Liebezeit. All the items were heartily applauded. The singing of tJ)e National Anthem brought a very entertaining afternoon to a close. Mrs. W. I'. Mountjoy is to be the speaker at the April meeting.
