WAIWHETU METHODIST MEN'S FELLOWSHIP

$ ANNUAL MEETING Reports presented at the recently held annual meeting oi' the Waiwhetu Metliodist Men's Fellowship indicated a very successful year of past activities. The principle of monthly home meetings was continued and a programme of lectures for the current year wafev approved. The theme chosen was entitled "War Accelerates Social Change" and individual topics to be discussed are: -Punishment: Retributive-, deterrent or reformative' On which does the emphasis lie in our prison system and in what direction is a change desirable/ Keligion and the Arts in an Acquisitive Society. How can we solve the problem ol' monul man in an evil world? To what extent is community living a solution I Should the Church enter Politics.' What is Christian Social Action I The Churches are not meeting the needs of the people to-day. Why? World Trade after the War: What effect will the Atlantic Charter have 011 it especially with regard to New Zealand? How much does scientilic knowledge of itself ensure the ultimate welfare of mankind? To what extent does it not? Is youth adrift? Has the war brought any special problems' of adjustment? Can we lind an adequate answer to the problem of illegitimacy ! Women and girls on war work: What special problems have arisen and how are they being met? (Combined meeting with Women's Fellowship). Officers elected for the ensuring year were as folilows: —President, Mr. W. Greenwood; vice-president. Mr. E. E. Heggie; secretary, Mr. It. 11. Ellis; treasurer. Mr. A. Stead; song leader, Mr. F. W.
