EDWAItD ALFRED BAKER Before proceeding with play at the Hutt Bowling Ctub on Saturda'y, the president, Mr. E. F. Hollands, made feeling reference to the sud-. den death of a highly respected member of the club, Edward Alfred (Bruce) Baker which took place at his home in Wilford. Street 011 Saturday morning. Members observed a short silence as a mark of respect. The late Mr Baker was in the employ of Messrs W. D. and H. Q. Wills for many years until obliged to relinquish his position owirig to ill health. After a period under medical treatment Mr Baker felt so much better in health that he took up a light position with the Housing Construction Company in Lower, Hutt. The funeral service which > was conducted by Rev. Canon Pry at St. Janjes's Church on Monday morning, was attended by representatives of his late employers and many of his bowling friends who provided the bearers from the church. After the service the cortege proceeded to the Crematorium at Karori. The late Mr Baker was a general favourite with a large circle of friends and the deepest sympathy is felt for his widow and two daughters in their sad bereavement.
