STOKES VALLEY INSTITUTE

The Stokes Valley Women's Institute held its lust meeting on April 2nd, when Mrs Combs welcomed all present. The singing circle rendered two numbers, "The Apple Woman," and "Coming Thro" the Rye"' Mrs. Henderson has been appointed librarian. Reports from the Red Cross groups show that they are working industriously with sewing and knitting. After a dainty afternoon tea Mrs Swanson gave a demonstration on Papier Machi splint-making. This work is being taken up by the arts and crafts group. Mrs. Swanson was thanked and presented with a pretty shoulder spray. The competition for the best tir of ginger nuts was won by Mrs Allen with Mrs. Harold second. The afternoon was brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem.
