TAITA WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

The annual meeting of the Taita Women's Institute was held recently in the Knox Schoolroom, Where meetings will be held until further notice. Mrs. Wilson presided over a good attendance of members and visitors. Three new members were nominated. The anuual report revealed t jthe amount of patriotic work' that had been done during the last twelve months and members are determined to do still more this year. The competition prize was won by Mrs. Sage and the bower competition" by Mrs. Jackson. Good reports were given by the treasurer, the Madrigal and Garden Circles. A donation of £2/2/- was made to the Wellington Free Ambulance. , Several letters of appreciation for parcels were received from overseas. The new committee are: Mesdames Brown (president), Green, (secretary), Draper (treasurer), Hamilton, Ireland, Mussen, Stedmanand Wilson. The meeting concluded with musical items by visiting artists and singing by the Madrigal Circle. In view of the resignation of Cr. E. P. Hay, as the council's representative on the Free Ambulance Committee, Cr. G. L. Giesen was elected to fill the position at Monday's council •
