MAYORESS APPEALS
The mayoress (Mrs. J. W. Andrews), is making an urgent appeal, lor tins .of biscuits lor inclusion in nameless soldiers' parcels. As a general rule Lower Hut I is required to supply 700 parcels every three months, but on this occasion the quotU must be fulfilled in two months. To meet the situation an extra packing day is being held at the Patriotic Rooms on March 11th Messrs (Iriflin and Sons supply SOlbs of biscuits each month for Lower Hull's parcels, and have done so since the scheme was inaugurated, but to meet the requirements of this extra packing day UOO tins of privately baked biscuits are needed. These biscuits - packed in baking powder, golden syrup, or similar sized tins -may be left with the mayoress or taken to the Patriotic Rooms on Friday between 11-4 p.m, on March lltli. Shortbread, ginger nuts or any other biscuits that carry well are recommended. the biscuits should be properly sealed and senders are asked to include their names and addresses in the tin. Tins are available for (lie purpose and can be obtained from MrsAndrews or the basement of (lit King (Jeorge Theatre. The urgenc\ of (he appeal cannot be over-stress ed. but Mrs Andrews is confident that, as always in a worthy cause the citizens will rise to the occas ion and the full quota of :M0 tin; will be forthcoming.
