Boy Scouts Gather Funds

Parents and friends of the 3rd Lower Hutt troop of Boy Scouts met in large numbers at the Scout Hall in Strand Park on Saturday evening, when an enjoyable social and dance took place in aid of the funds for sending members of this troop to the Australian Jamboree in December. The hall was bright with streamers and clusters of balloons, while the adjoining supperToom was decorated with vases of narcissi and shallow bowls of sweetscented spring flowers. A number of items which gave much pleasure were contributed by Mr. D. Gilmour (electric guitar solos), Miss Peggy Smytlie (tap dances), Mr du Faur (vocal solos), and Miss P. Hawke and Mt. Gilmour (pianoforte duet). A humorous burlesque item was heartily applauded. Mrs. J. Barnett accompanied and supplied an excellent programme of dance music, and l Mr. A. M. Reid acted as M.C. A number of guests also enjoyed a quiet game of bridge. The committee responsible for the amusements consisted of Mr. H. Maunder (chairman) and Mrs. Maunder (who was frocked in black and white printed crepe), Mrs Roy Hawke, secretary (floral georgette), Mr. S. Ashton (treasurer) and Mrs Ashton (printed crepon), Mr and Mrs L. C. Tubb scarlet mariette), Mr and Mrs du Faur (coffee maTocain), Mr and Mrs F. Clarke (wine matt crepe),, Mr and Mrs D.
