ASSISTANT LAW DRAFTSMAN

ME. J. S. REID APPOINTED Mr J. Standhopc Reid L.L.B. of the staff of the Minister of Finance lias been appointed assistant Law Draftsmail, succeeding Mr. H. D. C. Adams L.L.B. who has been appointed Draftsman ' Mr. Reid who is a principal in the firm of Eothwell and Reid has been in practice in Lower Hutt since 1929. He received his primary and secondary education at I'etone, where he obtained junior and senior scholarships. He then went to Victoria University College to study law, graduating bachelor of laws in 1922. He was admitted a barrister and solicitor the following year. Mr. Eeid served on the staff of the Crown Law Office from 1918 'to 1922. Mr. Reid took a prominent part in the drafting of the Mortgagors and Lessees Rehabilitation Act. He was ;i member of last year's Taxation Revision Committee, and was also attached to the expert secretariat appointed to assist the Special Parliamentary Committee which recently examined the Government's social security proposals. From 1930 to 1934 Mr Reid was a circuit steward o,f the Lower Mutt Methodist Church. He is the first president of the Hutt Valley Christian Youth Council one of the original directors of the Hutt Valley Y.M.C.A. and was a memiber of the Lower Hutt Relief Committee during the depression.
