LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

There was a very large attendance of Miembers and friends at the July meeting of the Petone branch of the League of Mothers. Mrs Gillward presided and extended a special welcome to visitors from Wadest.owu branch. A special feature of the meeting was an exhibition of hand-made Iloiiiion lace, lent, by Mrs Johnson, of Lowry Bay, who described the method of making' if. Hand-made crochet supper cloths and a, bedspread exhibited by the courtesy of. LMrs (Jolquhoun, were much admired. ilrs Aider sky, of the Lower Hutt. branch, was the speaker for the afternoun, and i,ook. her listeners for an imaginary trip to England and Scotland, describing places of interest such Shakespeare's Stratford-on-Avon, Ker.ilworth Castle, Warwick Castle, St. l''\ul's and Westminster Abbey, on r oute. At the conclusion, -Mrs Aldersley received a hearty round of applause and was presented with an attractive posy. -Mrs Johnson a,nd Miss Dick, who gave much pleasure with her songs, were also given posies. The serving of ai'ternooif tea and a social ten minutes brought a very enjoyable afternoon to a close.
