TAITA WOMEN'S INSTITUTE.
The usual meeting of the Taita Women's Institute was held recently, 'when Mrs, S. Craven presided over a very good attendance. A minute's silence was observed in connection 'with tlie death of a member's husband. Mr*. Pye gave a comprehensive report on the •recent council meeting and the president thanked' all those members who had so generously contributed <;akes, milk, etc., to the afterrioon tea there. The Madrigal Circle was congratulat?d on their performance at the song contest, Member* were reminded that the Christmas Toy Competition would be held at next meeting. Mention was made of a singing afternoon and a concert to be held shortly. Mrs. Harris was appointed convenor of the Gardening Circle and an Arts and Crafts Circle was formed under the combined leadership of Mesdames Pye and Morris. Mesdames Chapman-Taylor .and Williams gavo a good lccturo on the making of general handcrafts and a lfttgc number of their samples were displayed. The president when thanking these ladies for their demonstrations, presented them with sweet posies, the work of Mrs. Westbury and Miss Jacksou. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Jackson, Keall, Maycroft and Parry. ■,
