WORKSHOP SOCIAL COMMITTEE.

—.—,j CIIAIUTAH3LK UONATJW2v<* The Hutt Railway Workshops social committee will bo coming to the close of a successful dance season next Baturday, when a special joy night wiil be held.

The committee desires to thank their patrons for the support that has beeu given these dances and it is through this support" that the committee has been able to make generous donations to the Hutt Valley Y.M.C.A., Pet otic Plunket Society, Children's Jlealtfi Camp, Hutt District Nurse, Hutt Valley Railway Ambulance Division, the Children's Hospital and also have given financial assistance to members of tho staff of tho workshops who have been absent from -wo.rk for a considerable period through sickness.

The main objective of the. committee is to provide a free Xmas.party to a'l the employees' children every year. This year, owing to tho extra staff being engaged, the committee will have to provide for over one thousand children, and with these and their parents, it is estimated that two or three thouaand will be present on this occasicn.

' It is the usual custom of the committee at the festive season, to donate hampers to- members of the staff who have boon off sielc for lesser periods, and it is only through the combined efforts of the committee and their patrons, that the committee is enabled to help so many worthy causes,
