SUCCESSFUL XMAS PARTY. Mrs. Andrews, mayoress, accompanied by Mrs. Nash, complimented the members of the guild on the display and also on alt their ellott>. Throughout the year many of them she personally had. enjoyed, and she hoped this lust effort for 1.W.14 would have the support it merited. Mrs. Andrews i ummented on the great work the ( huri-hes were doing everywhere; the 'rail for help and service had never been greater than at the present time and the response was wonderful. Wishing the afternoon's venture every success she declared it o.pen and was presented with a beautiful posy 'by Ngaire Treseder, Afternoon tea on the cool verandah and in the spacious rooms was dispensed by Mesdames Macky, Butcher, lUchmoud, Halse, Christie, Barnes anil Miss Butcher, while ices were served by Mesdames Henderson and Batchelor. The tempting Christmas stall loaded with cakes and puddings was presided I o ver by Mesdames Orr, Blair, Webley and Miss Macaskill. The lawn games ' were in charge of Mr. Shaw and Mr, ' Mclvenzie and did 'brisk .business. The ' afternoon was a success in every way and Rev. Macky on behalf of all thank ed Mrs. Barry for her kindness am. hospitality. Mrs. Treseder assisted hei mother as hostess, Mrs W. Burgess anc Mrs. B. Whitcher were treasurer am ' secretary, anid with all the'loyal helper and splended patronage, are to be con | gratulated for the successful afteruoot
