THE SECOND ADVENT

In the Labour Hall last Sunday night an interested audience listened to a lecture on the above subject by Pastor C. A. Wrigley. The speaker said that the grandest and most spectacular event in all history wi'i be the return of our Saviour to this world. While Jesus was on earth during His ministry Hal gave us many assurrances that He would come back again, and just how, why, and when He will come, are made unmistakably clear in other portions of the Scriptures. One verse in twenty-five on the average, makes reference to the return' of Jesus, and very many of them tell us of the nearness of His return, and the speaker said that He will come back again in these days in which we are living. When our Saviour' returns according to His promise, he will come personally, audibly, visibly and gloriously John 14 1-3, Psrn. 50:3, Eev 1:7, Luke 9.2G, He will not come in spirit form, neither will He come silently, and the grand, glorious spcctcle will be witnessed by all the tribes cf the earth, and many of them will weep and wail besauSe of Him who sitteth on the throne. When Jesus was on earth He could be. seen and handled, and as He went away the angels said that this same Jesus wouild return. Acts 1:9-11. The speaker averred that all present would witness the coming of Christ and all would receive an eternal reward, for when the advent takes placc all the dead in Christ will be raised up and every man shall receive Ids reward, according as his work shall be. 1 Thess. 4:10-17 Eev 22:12. As to when Jesus will return Pastor Wrigley said that no man knows the day nor the hour not even the angels in heaven. The Bible instead of giving the day and hour gives jjgns of the returning Saviour and Jesus Himself when questioned by His disciples as to when he would return and what signs would be given said there would be wars ' and rumours of war, earthquakes famines, pestilences, men's hearts failing them for fear, and national distresswith perplexity, He further remarked when ye shall see these things begin to come to look up for your redemption draweta nigh. Another great sign of the nearness of Jesus' return is that the gospel is being preached to every nation, kindred tongues and people. All these signs have been given, said the speaker, and we now await the coming of Christ in power and great glory.
