THE HIKERS.

SUCCESSFUL CONCERT. ' The second variety entertainment organised by "The Hikers" for the benefit of the District Nurse Fund, was held in the King George Theatn last Thursday evening. The programme throughout was bright and entertaining and each number was highly appreciated. There was a fair attendance and it ra expected that the funds will be considerably augmented by the effort. The programme opened with a humorous play entitled "Who Does it Belong To/' those taking part being Kita Nolaud, Marjorio Lee, E. H. Muir, Cedric Muir, and Goo. Pcrssous.. An excellent musical programme followed opened by Mr llupert George who presented iles, Joyce Webster and Bryce Glenaie, was a splendid example of child acting and well deserved the loud applause aud recall which greeted the effort. A novel number was presentd by Miss Phyllis Ollivcr, who performed a very clever character dance, "Tally Ho" for which she> was recalled. Miss j Christina Young, who is the possessor of a rich contralto voice, sang "Habeuora," from "Carmen" and as a recall "A Little Irish Home." Mr A. Leslie amused his hearers with iwo selections from the Meauderiugs of Moutey. Tho accompanists were Miss Alice Duff, Miss Phyllis Conolley, Mrs George aud Mr Eon Hormau. The Hikers' ballet, ia which Eva Draper, Jerry Strand, Edna Savage, Marjorie Lee, Eita Nolan, and Grace Organ were the performers was very tastefully presented with tho bright costuming and clever dancing. During the interval musical numbers, were presented by Trcv. Hartley's o;chestra and Mr Eupert George. Miss Hilda Webster was very charming in a character sketch "Petals of the Plum Tree" from San Toy The popular playctte "The Hikers" was presented with most effective scenic effects and represented a scene in the orchard on Farmer Meadows' property. Bright ballet dances, choruses and local hits made the play go with a swing that provided a happy ending to an excellent programme tho principal performers of which were Farmer Meadows, Jas M. Carlson; Billy Boy, Enrol 11. Muir; Farmer Giles, Jas. Fordie; Farmer Brown, G. F. Brand; Mrs Meadows, N. O'Shea; Mrs Brown, L. Phillips; Maggie, Phyllis Martin; Eve, Eva Draper. Those responsible for the production were:—Ballet mistress, Eva Draper; lighting effects, U. Jones; producers, Helen Upton and Eva Draper; stage manager, Jas. M. Carlson. All Hie laily performers were presented with bouquets made by Mrs. J. Mitchell. At tho close of the concert Mr N. Gillespic thanked all who had helped in any way to assist in the eoffrt to augment the funds of the Distric Nurse tCommitec, especially the producers of the concert, Mrs M. Upton aud Mbs Draper. The performers were entertained fit supper by the ladies oi the Ked Cross Committee at Miss Diaper's Studio.
