HUTT VALLEY CRICKET

ASSOCIATION.

sth ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING.

The sth Annual General meeting of the Association was held in the Oddfellows' Hail on Thursday last, 22nd September. Mr. Craig presided over a "large and representative gathering of delegates. The annual report and balance sheet as tabled was duly adopted. Speaking to the report Mr Craig congratulated the Association on its solid financial position which reflected great credit to the committee and officers of the Association. The balance sheet shows that the credit balance is approximately 100 per cent greater than tihe previous season and this, in view of the very distressing period we are going through, must be *msidered most satisfactory, remarked this chairman. The election of officers resulted abj follows:—Patron: His Worship the Mayor, Mr D. McKenzie; President: Mr Jas. Kerr; Vice-Presidents: Messrs Oliver, Caley, W. Smith, Toombs, Coles, Ewart, Parrant, Nissen, Waddington, P. J." MuTning, and J. Matthews. Hon. Auditors: Messrs T. Love and H. f Eddie; • Hon. Secretary and Treasurer: Mr. Luke. Committee: 1 Messrs T. Love, H. Goldie, H. Jones, L. Moran, S. Chesney, W. Cates, A. Harding, J. E. Asplett, and F. Craig. The retiring Secretary (Mr. W. Sweeney) was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for the splendid work he had performed on behalf of the Asso-

ciation since its inception just over 5 years ago. There was no doubt, remarked the chairman, that the Association owes its present-sound position to the untiring work of the late Secretary, and it is with much regret we learn that owing to business reasons he is obliged to relinquish a position he has so ably cariied out in the past.

It was unanimously resolved that Mr Sweeney's services to the Association be placed upon record.

Applications for affiliation were applied for by three new teams, bringing the strength of the Association up to eleven teams at present.

Provided the grounds are available it is proposed to open thie season on

the 15th October.

Everything points to another successful season, remarked the chairman, and with, a view to bringing this state of affairs into being the committee is actively engaged in finalizing arrangements for the season's operations.
