NO RAILWAY TICKET.
A charge of failing to pay her son's train fare from Inglewood to Thorndon, amounting to £1 4s 8d was made against Mis Stannard. The defendant did nolj appear. "
A railway guard gave evidence that the defendant travelled, from Inglewood to Thomdon with her son, who was between three andi four years old, without having a ticket for him. She said that, her husband had bought the ticket at New Plymouth, but had failed to give it to her. That statement was not true. The Sergeant J-W. MeHolm said tha,t the Railway Department and the police ihad tried • unsuccessf uUy to collect the fare.. The defendant was convicted and ordered to pay the amount of the farle and Id's costs.- '..;;■■•■
