GAS BOARD.
A aieeting of tlie Petone and Lower Hutib Gas Lighting Board was held last week. There were present Mr. ~W. d. Lodder (chairman) and Messrs E. Hogg, P. Truscott; W r Q. Meldrum, and S. Clendbn.
The -works -manager* (Mr C. Shaw) reported that for the month 715 tons It)cWt. of coal was carbonised, 10,102,----000 cubic feet of gas manufactured. The average gasprodt-ced for each, ton of'coal used was 14,130 cubic feet; increased manufacture over October 1929, 1,228,000 cubic feet. 236 ton 16cwt. lpr. of coke and 4300 gallons of tar were sold during the month. On November 1, the estimate of coal in stock was 854 tons 15cwt.'lqr.; coke, 10 tons; tar, 16,700 gallons.
The manager of the Distribution Department (Mir O. Silbery) reported that during the month 34 new services, 34 cookers, 6: renewal cookers; 8 doppers, 8 caliphonts, and 54 neysr meters were installed, 70 meters changed and 49. meters repaired at works.
During the month at the direction of the Htott Borough Engineer the Board wassailed on to regrade 16 chains of 3in. main. in. Montagu? Street owing to the alteration to the street. Several services which were -found to be damaged owing to same being exposed; were Owing to complaints from, consumers in AriTri Street a. careful examination revealed ... four services badly leaking and same have been repaired* During the month I made inspections of work being done by the fitters and service layers.
