WAIWHETU SOCIAL.

A social and dance wah held in St. Paul's Anglican School-room on Tuesday night, and before the social portion of the evening commenced, the Yen Archdeacon Hansel! dedicated the kindergarten room which (has recently been added to the main building, arid during the course of his remarks thaitisked those gentlemen who had so willingly given the labour without which the room could not have been erected. DurV ing the evening the superintendent of the Sunday School, Mr. C. L. Collins, pleaded for the support of the parents .and friends of the children, for while 100 children attended the Sunday School, he and the teachers were so hampered in their work for want of -bSie equipment which is so necessary to the s-uiecess of the modern Sunday School and especially was that equipment necessary in the kindergarten department. The committee which was responsible for the social comprised Mrs Massey, Mrs. Bayliss and Messrs Thessman (secretary), Ashton, Fairbrother, Douthett, Carter and, Gardner. During the evening Miss Gunn gave an exhibition of dancing. The music was provided by Mrs Nioholls • (violin), Mr. Peck (piano), and Messrs Douthett, August and Haw. On Saturday afternoon a most successful concert, also in aid of kindergarten funds, took place, and in the evening another dance took place. The Yen. Archdeacon Hansell was present at the concert and warmly ■commended the efforts of the teaching staff were making and hoped that the result would prove encouraging. Mr. Collins mentioned that the proceeds .of the recent social efforts were to go towards a Xmas tree as well as to the furnishing fund. The concert programme was as follows: Boys' chorus, piano solo, Constance Pegler; dancej Rita Rankin; vocal duet, Dorothy and Joyce Douthett; recitation, Billy Fleet; piano solo, Natalie Wfriteman; play, "Arm Chair," by Eileen Burberry, Doreen Aibbott, Maurice Smith and Jack White; girls ' chorus; vocal duet, Phyllis Pukatapu and Elsie Coffey; canoe dance, senior girls; piano SOIO7 Joan Walker; play, "Sleepy Tree," by Bob Wyatt, Keith Sowry, Elsie Andrew, Olive Andersoji, • Doris Pegler, Joan Andrew, Reba Stunnell, Margaret Ashton, Averill Corlet, Joan Douthett, Coleen Ferguson, Jean Ferguson y and Nita Hunt. .
