The annual meeting of the Lower Hutt Volunteer Fire Brigade was held recently when all the officers were reelected for the ensuing year.
Excellent- work is being, done toy the Hutt County Council in improving the access to Stokes Valley by widening the road and the 'building of a new concrete bridge. This work has been initiated to provide unemployment work .and will; carry, tihe usual .Government subsidy. •'■•> ';
At Monday's Borough. Council'meeting, the Mayor said that lie was pleased to report that Fireman Hutton, Tvh* had received such serious injuries at a recent fire, was now out of hospital. Supt." Slinn was also making a remarkably good recovery and expected to be home in a few days.
An organ recital will be given in St, James's Ohurch by Mr. Douglas Taylor Director of Musical Edtueation, on Thursday, Novemlber 20th at 7.30 p.m. This opportunity of listening to Mr. Tayler's remarkable talent on the church organ is being eagerly looked forward to by music lover in t!he district. ; .
